Inspired from @richardbranson, I am writing this letter to 35 year-old myself.

Dear Nandan,

Now that you are 35-year-old, I want to congratulate you on all the successes so far. You have achieved all that you wished for, be it a Bengali restaurant that you always want to open, a flat that you always want to buy, parents living with you happily, a lovely wife whom you can make unending memories, a child starting your day, that trek to Chadar or Goechala that you always want to do, that Baleno or Chevy Cruze or Honda Accord you always want to have, etc. Everything is achieved or you are in right track.

Your greatest asset is your attitude towards people. Your welcoming nature will take you to newer heights. Always remember to surround yourself with good-hearted people, who will always support you no matter what.

I want to remind you that you need to keep on making the family time your priority, no matter what. Everyday, you should be aware how happy is your family. The reason is even you are the most successful person of the World, its useless if your family or loved ones are not there beside you to celebrate those successes. So, always remember that family comes first. Love them, spend time, make memories as much as possible, cos these times are not going to last forever.

Congrats for the new promotion in work. You have shown a great example of leadership and reliability all these years, and these promotions were rightly earned. Keep loving your work, don’t you ever give up. Do little, but do everyday, be persistent.

Here will be times where you want to give up and throw everything in. Don’t. By turning challenges into opportunities, you will find success you never realised you were capable of achieving.

But you won’t always succeed. In fact, you will fail time and time again. That’s ok though, because failure is an inevitable part of every personal and entrepreneurial journey. It’s important to pick yourself up, retrace your steps, look at what went wrong, and learn from your mistakes.

And awesome job in your restaurant business. People are loving your passion for good and authentic Bengali food. Though it is small now, don’t worry about it. You seem to be loving doing it everyday as well as plan to improve and expand. Don’t worry about managing time, all will fall into place if you have desire to achieve. Delegate things wherever you can. You can’t do everything by yourself, coz you are not expert in everything in this world. Find people who are passionate about doing one thing and one thing only, and delegate that piece of work to him/her.

And lastly, don’t try to be perfect in first attempt.

Regards,

29-year-old You(Feb 2018)
